Hey Hey Happy Friday!

Let’s talk about some fun stuff, starting with something I got a *little* obsessed with…

1. The Royal Wedding!

I mean. Can we just talk about how adorable Meghan and Harry are for a minute?! Not only were they breathtaking, but the way they look at each other, the fairy-tale-ness of it all…the pastor, her mom (who I just wanted to jump through my tv and hug the whole time), the singing (I watched Stand By Me about three times and wept)…it was all so beautiful. I’m a sucker for a good love story, and yes, some call it a spectacle and call us crazy to be so infatuated with it, but you know what I say? In these times, couldn’t we all just use a few hours to get swept away with a beautiful love story? Let’s REJOICE, people. Let’s lose ourselves in the joy between two people because sometimes it’s what the world needs. On Saturday, it rained all day so our ballgames were canceled and I got to sit right here with multiple cups of coffee and soaked it all in for hours. I loved every minute of it. Here’s to the lovebirds, may they live happily ever after.

2. Target Pajamas

You know what’s the perfect attire to watch the royal wedding on tv at 6:30 am? THESE JAMMIES.

Holy cuteness. I spotted this floral print from a mile away when I was at Target recently and they hopped in my cart. (I know, it’s a pattern. Don’t ask me how this stuff just does that – must be magic.) 😉

I love them – they’re so feminine, not only with the print, but the ruffly sleeves, the sweet details. FYI – I bought a small in the top and bottom – but the bottoms are cut big and the top is cut small, so I wish I ‘d gotten a medium top.

3. “This is Temporary”

Last week at Bible Study, a friend of mine shared this line with us, that she said has helped her through times of adversity: “This Is Temporary.”

And in God’s perfect timing, it has been quite the perfect mantra this week. My middle has had a lot going on lately, and we just found out she has to have pretty intense oral surgery next month. We’ve had a lot of heart-to-heart talks (especially during the hospital stay last month), and I shared these three words with her. Anytime she starts feeling down, we look at each other and say it, and I am telling you, it’s been such a source of comfort. For both of us. Sometimes things feel like they’re just snowballing so much, and sometimes we need to just stop, take a breath, and say, this is temporary. Because it is. Years from now, we’ll talk about that crazy year she had in fourth grade and it’ll be a distant memory. But the lessons she learned and the strength she gained will remain, and I hope these three words will be in the back of her mind through every bit of adversity to come.

(Some doggy snuggles aren’t a bad idea, either) 😉

Have a blessed weekend, my friends!

“This is temporary”! Wow, what a great statement. We sometimes do believe our troubled times will last forever. But God is good and we always get through it! And yes to those adorable pajamas, how cute are they!! Have a wonderful weekend!

    • Such a powerful statement in just three little words, right!? Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!! XO

I have an article published on crosswalk.com about a time when my son suffered in a new school setting (middle school). It was one of my most trying times as a parent. But in the end, God used it for good in his life–he developed into a compassionate, sensitive young man. Hang in there with your daughter– so many of us have been there and have proved God to be faithful to our children. Here’s a link to the article: https://www.crosswalk.com/family/parenting/when-your-child-suffers-11639930.html

    • I type this with tears in my eyes, Julie! This was beautiful – I am sharing it with my Bible Study girls right now. Thanks for sharing!

Couldn’t agree more about “this is temporary”! When April had her surgeries a few years ago she had A LOT of things to be sad about and yet she held her head up high most of the time… one of the things she wanted to hang up in her bathroom to look at each day( as she looked in the mirror at her elostomy bag knowing it was TEMPORARY but still so so hard… ) was a little sign she asked me to make for her that said “This is temporary” This too shall pass! Good word! Love u friend!

#3 is such a great reminder for those of us going through sudden hardships. Thank you for sharing. It came at a time I needed it most.
