Hello again!

Back to Favorite Things Friday this week – and I’ve got some good ones for you! Let’s dive in…

1. Hearth And Hand Apron

You might’ve seen this post on Instagram – of me in my favorite apron baking some zucchini bread:

I have always been an apron girl – even back in my single girl apartment days of making dinner for myself. Just wrapping one around me puts me in the mood to get cooking (or baking!). It’s funny, how different cooking dinner feels once I pour a glass of wine and put an apron on – it suddenly turns from a chore to something enjoyable. And of course, there’s the actual purpose of protecting your clothes;) Lol! I’ve gone through many over the years, and this has been my favorite so far. And it comes as no surprise that it’s from Chip and Jo’s Target line, Hearth and Hand! When it’s not in use, I hang it up on the kitchen door – you might’ve even spotted it in some recent kitchen photos, like this one:

2. Layered Welcome Mats

It was funny, my sister in law was over a while ago and brought to my attention that our welcome mat said “Welc.” Ha! The letters had worn off over time and I had no idea – so I FINALLY picked up a new one from Hobby Lobby this week, as they were 50% off. This cute little guy was only $9.99! I knew he’d be too small for our front step, but I’ve been seeing so many layered welcome mats lately that I figured I’d give it a try! I found a buffalo check (you know I LOVE me some buffalo check!) online, and how cute does it look?!

And I noticed a lot of people under customer reviews said they used this for this exact purpose – under a welcome mat! We had bad storms this week, and it’s still looking good! The reviews said it’s held up great, so we shall see. Would be really perfect for a covered porch or an entry with a large overhang above the door.

3. Christopher Robin

Gah. You guys. Have you seen this movie? My mom and I took the kids to see it on a rainy day this week, and it was just precious. My kids loved Winnie the Pooh, and I did as well, so it was special to share that common piece of our childhoods. We all got very nostalgic – it’s pretty impossible not to – watching all those beloved characters come to life on the big screen. And Pooh’s little voice, saying those profound but simple words…it tugged at this mama’s heartstrings for sure. And I loved the message it taught my kids. Taught all of us, really. Get out there – play, explore, and hold onto that precious childhood wonder…and slow down. Because as Pooh says, oftentimes “doing nothing leads to the very best kind of something.”

If you have a chance, go see this movie. In this fast paced world, where we work so hard and often forget to look for joy and just have fun, you will take something truly beautiful away from it.

That about wraps up today’s FTF. Have a wonderful weekend, friends. I will be taking next week off from blogging – I’m going to unplug and savor the last week of Summer before the kids head back to school. It’s always bittersweet. We are ready for some routine, but will miss these lazy, wondrous days of this season that encourages us to slow down, relax, and recharge. I will be back with lots of fun stuff in store, I promise!

XO, Liz
