The Official Last Blog Post…(here anyway!)

Wow. Has it really been close to a year since I wrote that blog post about taking my break from blogging? The years just keep flying faster and faster, don’t they?

If you’re on social media, you have probably heard the news by now, but I figured I should write one last ND post for those of you who aren’t on Facebook or Instagram, because, well, life is throwing some very exciting surprises my way. And whereas before, I really didn’t know what would happen – as far as growing my consulting business, or maybe I’d miss blogging and return…but I know now.

Let me just share an excerpt from that blog post for a minute that I just reread for the first time since January that gave me goosebumps:

“I feel I’ve taken this blog as far as it can go. That’s hard to write, but if I’m being honest, I think I’ve always known that I’ll never take this to the place where a person who’s been doing it six years should be. I am an extrovert by nature, and I really love consulting. When I can go into a home and teach people ways to decorate – to help them love their space and feel joy there – I feel like I am doing really important work. I believe in the power of home so very much, and I think it’s so important for people to feel at peace there. What we feel at home, we take out into the world. I want to spread that message. There are parts to blogging I do love, but there’s so much time involved and it feels like a different direction is necessary right now. I’m not sure exactly where I’m headed – whether it’s focusing on growing my consultation business, partnering up with a fellow designer or what, but I’m praying on that. Trying hard to listen to God and go where He is leading me. It’s time to really be where I can best serve others with the gifts I’ve been given in the best way for my family. Blogging doesn’t feel like the way at this time.”

Let me tell you, I HAD ZERO IDEA – Z-E-R-O –  when I wrote this in January, that come late September, I would be creating a business with one of my best friends where we decorate homes for people, offer decorating advice, give them spaces that they love..and spread the message that home matters, and everyone of us deserves a soft place to land at the end of the day.

Every single day, even in the crazy CRAZY whirlwind it’s been starting a business, taking care of the logistics of it all, websites, LLC, etc etc… it feels like an absolute dream come true. Whether it’s taking care of office-y stuff, or shopping for clients, or writing up consultation emails, or the best day: when we get to decorate! – we believe with all our hearts that we are EXACTLY where we are supposed to be, and doing EXACTLY what God intended for us. I honestly can’t imagine this road with anyone other than Jen, and…well, it’s hard to even put into words, but I think that’s what happens when you follow His lead.

The response from our community has completely knocked our socks off, and we didn’t see it coming in the slightest. Not in the teeniest tiniest slightest. But yet here we are. Booking into MARCH.

How? What?? Seriously???

So for real this time – signing off as The Naptime Decorator. The end of a chapter, but a brand new one beginning. I feel just beyond blessed that you are reading this right now, and have followed my journey since my kids were little babies taking naps;). This blog has created so many friendships, and was a part of the plan all along. It was a true gift and outlet for me during such a big season of my life, and one that I will never – EVER – take for granted. It will always be such an important part of my story, and of OUR story.

If you’d like to follow along on our new adventure, you can look us up on Facebook at Comfort + Grace Home Design, and Instagram at comfortandgracehomedesign, AND while there’s not much to see yet on our website, we’re working on that and will be blogging from time to time there – comfortandgracehomedesign.com.  I do love writing and connecting with you all, and Jen is a writer as well. She has so many special, important stories to share, and I am THRILLED for you to get to know her! She’s truly one beautiful soul.

So I hope to see some familiar faces over at C+G! Thank you for making Naptime Decorator such a special part of my life!

Forever grateful,

Liz
