A Must Have Decor Item, a Tip, and a Glimpse at Spring…3 for 1!

Wow, wacky title, huh? Just thought I’d put it all out there what this post was about;)

I packed away ALL THINGS WINTER today. Buh-bye. See ya later. Funny how I love getting it all out late November, then I’m beyond ready to pack it all up and stick it back in storage by this time of year. And even though snow’s in the forecast for tomorrow, I had to bust out my Spring bin. It was in the 60s this weekend and it was G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S, I tell you. Officially made me done with all this winter business. I was doing pretty good up until then, but now I’m ruined. Bring on Spring, I say! Cannot wait.

So in my bin, I have this bag of mossy goodness, and some eggs in natural colors. And that’s when the wheels got to spinnin’. I thought, hmmm….

I looked at my shallow bowl that sits on my coffee table and thought hmmm…{again}.

This is where part 1 of the 3 part post comes in: This is my must have decor item. Ok, ok, it’s not really a MUST HAVE. You could clearly survive without this piece in your home, but it makes my life easier when it comes to decorating my coffee table. I never have to think about it – just the bowl with stuff and we’re good. Done. I got this bowl from HomeGoods back in the fall and fell in love. It was $14.99 I believe, and silvery and leafy…just perfect. You could find these bowls anywhere – and they come in all different finishes – glass, wood, colored, plain, designed – whatever your fancy. Places like HomeGoods, Marshalls, TJ Maxx are great places to look, but I’m sure good ol’ Target would have something to offer.

Back when I first bought it, I placed fall-y things in it – like gourds, pumpkins, etc.

See it there, sitting on the table? Just makes decorating so easy.

At Christmas, I filled it with pinecones, greens, and berries…

And no, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you – that’s a wicker trunk in the first pic, and a coffee table in the second. We got the table right after that pic was taken:)

Then, after Christmas, I took away the greens and berries, and added some apples for the time being…wasn’t anything special, but it worked…

And now, I decided to add that mossy eggy goodness to it, along with some candles (that are flameless by the way – LOVE flameless candles when they’re out in the open like this)…

Here’s where Part 2 of the 3 parter post comes in: The Tip!

I wanted the candles to appear different heights, but only had candles that were all the same. So I went to the kitchen, grabbed a couple different sized ramekins, stuck them upside down, and voila! Each candle looks different.

As long as you have something to hide it, like in my case, the moss, no one’s gotta know our little secret;)

So here’s Part 3: a Glimpse at Spring ~

Much more Spring to come in the upcoming weeks…there’s no stopping me now!

  1. So pretty and I love the idea of the risers! Great lead in to Spring! (I’m guessing there may be a few Easter decorations and jelly beans in there by April!!

  2. So pretty, Liz! I love how you used the ramikins to vary the candles. Smart idea 🙂

    Have a blessed week,

  3. Great idea Liz, I can’t wait for spring either!

  4. Love the candle height tip. I’ve also subscribed to your soup can trick when filling hurricanes–so smart! I used books in my last mantel-scape to adjust the height of items. What clever trick would you have done?
