The Perfect Bench and My Favorite Wreath

There’s this little wall in our dining room that has just stumped me for a loooong time. I move stuff around constantly in this particular little corner of the room, because I have yet to find the perfect thing. Part of the problem, I think, is that we have that large china cabinet in the opposite corner, and a large window right between these two walls. So when I hang something large and rectangular, like this DIY Shiplap-in-a-Frame…

…it was ok, but all the boxiness didn’t feel right. I wish I had a photo of the whole room in its entirety, so you could see what I mean.

Then, I tried the $5 Yard Sale Flip Top Desk there for a while:

See it in the left corner there? And that was fine too. But of course, I move things around all the live long day, and wanted this desk back in our family room when I rearranged in there;) (I really am as crazy as they say I am, huh?!)…

I love it as a plant stand so that’s staying…for a little while at least;)

So a blank wall yet again…

I was at Hobby Lobby recently and spotted what COULD NOT BE MORE PERFECT.

This little black bench.

OH YOU GUYS.

It looks like a little church pew (that’s even what the sweet girl who helped me out to my car with it said, so I’m not alone!), and it ties in the black accents, and is just the most perfect size bench you could ever imagine for that wall. If I built it myself, I would’ve made it these exact dimensions.

And thennnnn, the arched window my friend gave me a long time ago no longer had a spot in our family room, since we tore down the wall and added the board and batten.

ARCHED. Not boxy! And it’s BIG! Wooohoo this could be the answer to this wall!

It needed some color. Enter good ol’ Hobby Lobby AGAIN. You guys, I was walking down the wreath aisle a couple weeks ago and I swear, this one just about yelled out to me. I gravitated to it immediately. It’s whimsical shape, the large size, and the leaves! The leaves are soft and so real looking – it’s really the prettiest wreath I’ve seen in a long time.

I added some pillows I had (pillow covers from HL). I put a basket underneath for all of Charlie’s things – leashes, wipes for his paws, waste bags – it’s all there, right by the door to grab.

Since we don’t have an entry to speak of, having this little bench close to the front door is really nice. It’s a nice dumping ground when we walk in. Of all the things we’ve had in this spot, a bench is my favorite. I’m such a fan of functional decor, and this definitely fits the bill.

And looks pretty cute to boot:)

I’ve said it a million times, and I’ll say it again. What on earth did we do before Hobby Lobby?!

Comments

  1. Looks lovely. I think I need to make a trip to HL. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. Is this the Black Two-Panel Bench? When I look on HL it looks tall, but in your room it doesn’t look tall, so I’ll need to make a trip to HL to investigate. Thanks for the inspiration!

    • Yep, that’s the one! The pic online doesn’t do it justice at all! You’re so very welcome!

  3. So good!
