So you all might’ve heard me mention before that Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick was THE very first blogger I ever read/followed/stalked, whatever you want to call it;). I met her at the Haven Conference last year and TOTALLY fan-girled. Like, asked for a picture with her and everything. (I am not one to ever play it cool, you guys. I will geek out with the best of ’em).  So when she invited me to join her and this amazing group of bloggers for her annual Stuff We Love roundup, I was so thrilled (and totally surprised – I mean, these are some really amazing ladies to be included with!). She does this every year and it’s always so fun to read – lists chock full of holiday goodies, gifts, gadgets, stuff to treat yourself or your home maybe, just things people love in general – who wouldn’t love to read that?!

Be sure to check out the end of this post for all the links to everyone else’s Favorite Things!

I gave it some thought, and here’s what I came up with!

1. Matching Family Pajamas

This is one of our favorite holiday traditions. We used to open them on Christmas Eve, but we’ve started doing it on Thanksgiving night instead. We figured this way we can enjoy them all month long, and it really is a fun way to kick off the season. Unless of course, you go with a plaid that work all winter long! Got these for the five of us last year, and we wear them as soon as the temperature drops until it’s time to pack the winter clothes up in the spring! They don’t carry this exact plaid this year, but here is a similar style: Matching Holiday Pajamas)

2. Clinique Moisture Surge

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff. My skin gets soooo dried out this time of year, and this is SO light and dries in seconds, yet moisturizes so well?! I can’t figure out how such a light, non-greasy moisturizer gets the job done, but somehow it does! am typically a drug store kinda gal when it comes to makeup, etc, but this is worth the splurge in my opinion – it lasts forever, too. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for, I’m learning more and more as I get older…

3. Carved Wood Bowl

I grabbed this cutie recently at Target when it was marked down on clearance from $35 to $10?!! Um YES PLEASE! I just really love everything about it. I have it sitting on my kitchen island and not only is it pretty to look at, but functional as well. Every time I walk in my kitchen now, it just…I don’t know, feels homier! Carved wood + apples makes me smile for some reason? Who knew.

Here’s hoping you’ll get just as lucky in the clearance aisle at your store – but if not, I’ve always had my eye on this one (like, I’ve had it in my cart multiple times;) that’s similar and just as cute: Carved Wood Decorative Bowl

4. Clip On Booklight

I have never been one of those fortunate people who can lay down, turn off the light, close their eyes, and fall asleep in seconds. My mind races with alllll the things, so reading a book before bed is a must for me. My husband however, IS one of those lucky ones. I don’t want to keep my bedside lamp on and keep him up, so a booklight is a must. And this one is THE BEST. Like, I might be borderline obsessed with it. It has so many bells and whistles, it’s ridiculous. I mean – different glows?! Warm, cool, combined – whatever you fancy. Different levels of brightness, comes with a USB charging cable, eye protection LED source – I mean, this thing ROCKS. I think Santa should drop these in my girls’ stockings, now that they’re sharing a room!

5. Homebody

First of all, I cannot get over the size of this book! It is ginormous! And not just full of gorgeous photos, but in typical Joanna Gaines style, you can tell she really wants to do good with this book. It’s much more than just a design book. It’s packed with tips and helpful advice so you can create a home you truly love. I believe so strongly in the power of home, and have always been a total homebody, so every page inspires and resonates so very much.

6. Cozy Winter Leggings

Gah. I could LIVE in these soft leggings! And I feel festive to boot:) Win win! The inside is like a light fleece-y material and so so warm and wonderful. Paired with some warm socks, and a big ol’ cozy fleece top and you have got yourself the perfect lounge-around-the-house weekend outfit!

7. Natural Fiber Kitchen Runner

This runner is the MVP of this house, let me tell you. It gets more traffic than probably any other thing around here – from food spilling, dog laying (because of course Charlie chooses to hang out on it while I cook dinner every night?!), constant wear and tear from the five (sorry, Char- SIX!) of us all day long, yet it still looks and works so well in our kitchen. Not only that, but I just adore the warmth it brings. With the grey floor and counter, natural elements really help amp up the homey factor in here. I also love the length of it!

8. Cheese Grater

This has been a total GAME. CHANGER. When it comes to cheese, I gotta grate. I’m kinda weird about it. Freshly shredded cheese just tastes so much better than the bag stuff to me, so I am constantly getting the grater out – which USED to mean: also a small cutting board to rest on, then something to put the leftover shredded goodness in – and it made a bit of a mess, too. Not anymore, my friends! Now, I just get this out, shred or grate, then the cheese neatly collects in the base, and anything I don’t use, I pop the lid on and stick in the fridge! BOOM! Oh! And the bottom does not move! It stays completely in place while you’re grating. AND it’s all dishwasher safe. Ok, it’s *possible* I may get more excited than most about this, but for me, it’s been a godsend in the kitchen.

9. Philodendron

For someone who kills all the things – a philodendron is your best friend. If you are someone who wants to have plants around but afraid you will kill them, start with this one! Look at that cascading goodness, would you! Who knew I had it in me?! I have moved this from my family room to dining room to bedroom and back again, and no matter the lighting, how infrequently I water it (I’ve been known to stick my finger in there and it was beyond dry), this puppy just won’t quit. And just gets prettier and prettier the longer I have it. I mean, look at my husband’s dresser there and picture it without that green loveliness. Plants just bring it, don’t they? Don’t know what to put on the top of that bookshelf? Plant. How about the coffee table? Plant. Empty corner over there? Floor plant. Ok you get it. The pop of green just always seems to work and bring life to any space.

10. A Chunky (And soft!) Throw Blanket

A nice chunky throw blanket is always a perfect gift idea, don’t you think? Who doesn’t love the feel of curling up on the couch in front of the tree with a cozy throw? With five of us in the house, we have a LOT of throws around here – I mean, I have a bit of a problem leaving them in the store! They’re just so inviting and anything that adds texture is a good thing in my book…and we’re big fans of all things cozy around here anyway, so why not? Bonus points: they can also hide marks on your furniture when strategically placed;)

I actually had this one in my cart at the store and noticed it was all marked up and unraveling – and was the only one left:( So it’ll have to wait until next time – but what drew me to it was the crazy soft sherpa side underneath, and the pretty chenille chunky cable knit on top. So much softness and texture – perfect curling up blanket!

  1. Ooooh! I can’t wait to try the cheese greater!!! And I’ve been wanting a book might for my girls!!! Thanks for the tips!!!!

  2. 2 things…more often than not my husband falls asleep WHILE READING his book. I don’t even know how many times I’ve had to poke him to wake him off to turn off his light. And totally agree on the plants–I think I’m becoming the “crazy plant lady” and when I have to go out of town for work I have a 2 page list of plants for my husband to water with the quantities for each. It’s nuts, I admit it.

  3. Be careful with that philodendron. As pretty as they are, they are poisonous to dogs & cats!
